State-level Nanjing Cross Strait Industrial Park with a planning area of 3.5 km² was approved to be set up by Taiwan Affair Office of the State Council and State Science and Technology Commission in September 1997.

There are nearly 50 Taiwan companies in the zone with the total investment of USD 800 millions as yet. Their scope of business concentrates on electronic components, flat panel display backlight module and relevant components, LCD TV (monitor) production and marketing; the storage and transportation of petrochemical; processing, marketing of biopharmaceutical products as well as daily-use chemical products.
